There is a legend among the Vaelune people of a lovely young fallaḥa, or “female commoner,” who went by the name of Samia. According to tradition, Samia fell deeply in love with the devilishly handsome and impossibly ancient djinn spirit Nuahaibu, whom she called “Aibu.” With no wealth to speak of, and little else of value to proffer as an offering, Samia went off in search of a treasure of great value that might make her more appealing as a potential mate. The search took her all across Verra, until eventually, by sword, by guile, and by good fortune, she found just the gift. Samia discovered five rings of gold, so dazzling to behold that the djinn recognized their great value and unequaled beauty the moment he set eyes upon them, and knew that they must be his. Thus, the djinn and the fallaha haggled back and forth on price before finally striking a bargain. In exchange for the Golden Rings, the djinn not only agreed to wed Samia, but also to remain by her side in visible, corporeal form forever. Today, the reenactment of Samia’s journey is an important coming of age ritual for Vaelune children called “Riha Kalb,” the Heart Quest. The Vaelune believe that the Heart Quest must be successfully completed before they can reach spiritual adulthood, when their blood will forever be tied to the elemental spirits of earth, air, fire, and water.

Veil of Graceful Elegance
Accessory Cosmetic Skin *
In accordance with Vaelune cultural tradition, unmarried men and women wear a veil within the confines of a Vaelune city or metropolis. In recent years, however, veils found their way back into fashion for the people of the desert. Today, Vaelune nobles and commoners from every stage of life can be seen wearing them as a fashion accessory that can also provide practical protection against the biting sandstorms of the Sandsquall Desert. Some veils, like this one, are intricately adorned for ceremonial purposes. Even the simplest, minimalist patterns designed for function and utility are so artistically crafted that they are highly prized and coveted for their beauty.
Peering Loris
Pet Cosmetic Skin *
It is said that the large, bulbous eyes of the Peering Loris don’t look upon the physical world in the same way that you or I might, but rather, they view the world through the lens of the magical Essence that courses through it. For the most part, these benign creatures are not aggressive. In fact, the only defense mechanism the tawny-colored mammals seem to have is a bite that delivers an extremely dangerous venom. When the venom enters the bloodstream, it causes a violent exothermic response. Thankfully, the creatures are so mild-mannered, there are very few recorded cases of Loris owners being bitten by their own pets. That said, unscrupulous types use Loris venom to brew a number of lethal concoctions with the deadly side effect of destabilizing any Essence that might be found in the bodies of its victims.
Silkfur Dunehunter
Mount Cosmetic Skin *
Clever, mischievous, faithful, and devoted, Silkfur Dunehunters are common, but enviable desert mounts. In the deepest sands, Dunehunters are somewhat inefficient when compared to a whelk or a camel, but they are fast moving, easily trained, and always ready to cuddle up and share their warmth on a cold desert night.
Charmed Threads
Costume Cosmetic Skin *
The fashion aesthetics of the Vaelune are very different than those of the Pyrian elves. The latter aspire to a perfection of form that is virtually unattainable, while the former have no such pretension. Vaelune prefer their wardrobe selections to be functional, yet eye-catching, believing that care devoted to the improvement of physical appearance is never wasted, for it will bring opportunities before you.
Shimir
Naval Cosmetic Skin *
Shimir are a type of Vaelune watercraft commonly used to navigate canals and transport merchant goods, known for their long flat decks which are ideal for setting up a merchant tent, or a storefront. Since the space on a Shimir’s deck is modular in design, it can be easily transformed into a sleeping area, or a place to store treasures.
Amorateum: A Garden of Love
Freehold Large House Building Cosmetic Skin *
Nuahaibu used his power of wish-granting and brought forth from the sands and stones of the desert a luxurious palace, or alcázar, for the pleasure of his new wife. The roofs, he topped with verdant flourishing gardens. The grounds were filled with steaming hot and blissfully cool pools of crystal-clear water, in which she might delight in comfort and luxury, but Samia had no desire to settle in one place. She had grown accustomed to the road, and her blood craved more adventures, so the two reached a mutually-beneficial agreement. They would return to their “amorateum” on the longest night of each year and spend it together, enraptured by their carnal bliss and all-consuming love.
