A simple, but indispensable item for many Niküa fisherman, this sturdy construct of leather and fur is reinforced by a layer of polished scales, offering the girdle great resilience to oceanic conditions. Experience has taught the Niküa that angling often requires the right tool for the occasion, and the wide variety of hooks and bait aims to ensure every outing will yield a bounty.

Prickly Pollywog

Pet Cosmetic Skin *

Bright and bouncy, the prickly pollywog is oft a regular sight around Niküan communities. While not poisonous, the spikes and horns that dot this amphibian’s hide are certain to leave a mark. Over time, it has become something of an unofficial rite of passage among many Niküan children to provoke the barbed creature, laughter filling the air as the pollywog furiously hops after its aggressor. Some find the activity so much fun they choose to keep their spiky friends as pets - to the chagrin of their families.

Wisp Whelk

Almost seeming a phantom drifting across the sands, the sight of this massive mollusk has given rise to numerous ghost stories told around the fire. Most often spotted during the night, some local seers mark their arrival as an omen, while others view them as a herald of bountiful tides. Whether or not these theories hold truth, sitting atop one of these subtly spectral specimens will no doubt leave many a bystander in wonder.

The Niküa hold great reverence for the sea, and so make their attire bright like the shores in respect. Their gear is rugged, first and foremost, and all manner of tools are tightly secured with straps of leather. Devices which can be used for multiple purposes are also highly valued. As such, a large hat adorned with various hooks serves to shield from the beating sun, and can be used to haul the day’s catch if necessary. Fishers perform a critical role in Niküan society, and their penchant for adaptability serves to inspire others.

Pollywagon

Should a pollywog be kept long enough, a Niküan citizen may find themselves with a rather rotund companion. However, its resulting strength cannot be understated, and its slick body keeps it cool in the tropical sun. The pollywog’s powerful legs are perfect for long stretches of beach, and even swamps should the need arise. Fully grown pollywogs will even be able to fight of their own accord. No few raids upon Niküan caravans have been thwarted by the frenzied hops of the pollywog, goring bandits along the way.

If there were ever a cornerstone serving as the bedrock of Niküan trade, then this modest stall would be it. Stacked from floor to thatched roof with all manner of catch, it is prepped for a full day of commerce and trade. Here, haggling is not merely a suggestion, but a requirement.
